Election Security debrief outcome to be put to Government

Police Commissioner David Manning said the 2022 joint security forces election debrief outcome will be presented to the Government though the Internal Security Minister for deliberations.     

Commissioner Manning made this undertaking during the joint security forces election debrief conference closing ceremony on Wednesday 19th, in Lae Morobe Province.

Mr Manning said, “Form a security perspective we were able to deliver a successful security operation. Many of our views and concerns were in the cross-cutting issues involving all agencies. Our mandate was simple and also our intent was very clear as we remained committed form pre-election operation till the formation of Government.

“The recommendations form this conference concerning the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary and the partners agencies tasked to provide a free, fair and safe election will be put forward to the Government for further deliberation.

“Let me thank the partner agencies for the undivided supported in this election.  The RPNGC enjoyed our friends support in delivering this democratic process.

“You have identified the challenges and how you have cover come and some remain unresolved in delivering the security.

“As of the RPNGC many activities tied to this has been initiated prior to the national general election 2022 security operations and many are ongoing and I make particular reference to the election planning cycle, fairly building the four level of command (C4), strengthening governance and accountability, enhancing inoperability, and finally developing appropriate infrastructure,” Mr Manning said.

He further called on the respective commanders to embrace the constabulary reforms and start instituting corrective measures in addressing the issues faced during this year election operations.

Commissioner Manning said, “Just as the Government demands performance form your executive, we in turn too demand and expect the highest level of commitment and performance form current operators. The executive will continue to assess individual performance. It is incumbent upon us to ensure we continue to strive not only to do thing better but also doing better things,” Commissioner Manning said.
